What’s your “Dream”?

This is the start of a new blog, one where I want to challenge myself (and hopefully others) to think a bit more honestly about what we want from life and what actually matters.

The first thing I want to talk about is dreams.

Why don’t I have one?

So many people seem to grow up knowing exactly what they want to do. From a young age, they can picture their future and work towards it. I’ve never really felt that way. Instead, I find myself at 28 standing at a crossroads, looking down and having absolutely no idea which one I’m meant to take.

Right now, I work in TV and film production as a buyer. Before that, I worked in costume, and before that I did a degree in theatre and performance design. Creativity has always been the one constant in my life. The thing that’s stuck and I know that’s where I want to stay.

I just don’t know how yet, or in what form.

For a long time, I’ve felt like that was something I should be embarrassed about. There’s this unspoken pressure to have it all figured out by a certain age, to be able to confidently say, this is my dream. But what if you don’t have one? What if the idea of a single, lifelong dream feels more stressful than inspiring?

This blog is my way of stepping out of that anxious corner, the one made up of self-doubt, comparison, and fear of making the wrong choice and seeing what’s actually out there. I want to explore what happens when we stop forcing answers and start getting curious instead. Maybe dreams aren’t always big or fixed. Maybe they show up slowly, or change along the way.

I’d really love this to be a conversation. I want to hear from people all over the world about what having a “dream” means to them, or if that word even means anything at all.

So here are a few questions I’ll leave you with:

  • Do you feel like you have a dream, or does that idea make you uncomfortable?

  • How do you tell the difference between what you want and what you think you should want?

  • Have you ever found direction by accident rather than by planning?

  • Do you think fulfilment comes from one clear path, or lots of smaller, changing ones?

I don’t have the answers yet, but I’m hoping this blog helps me start asking better questions.

Ciao for now…
